About Bob

Bob Smiciklas M.A., R.P., C.C.C. is a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), and a Licensed Minister with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada (PAOC).  He specializes in individual and couples therapy and maintains a counselling practice centrally located in Leamington, Ontario, serving clients from across Greater Essex County including the communities of Windsor, Essex, Kingsville, Wheatley, and Chatham.

Bob is an interactive solution-focused therapist with over 26 years of clinical experience working with individuals, couples, and family issues.  He has counselled over 7000+ different people from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds, in a variety of clinical settings including private practice, community based counselling agencies, hospitals, and Christian churches.  His therapeutic approach provides practical support and insightful feedback that helps his clients effectively address personal life challenges such as relationship and family conflicts, stress management, grief & loss, personal and spiritual growth issues, anger management, depression and anxiety, to name a few.

Bob is an affiliate therapist with several national and regional mental health networks and employee assistance programs.  He has undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Theology, and a Master's Degree in Pastoral Counselling with a special emphasis on the integration of practical therapeutic interventions within the Christian faith. Bob has taught undergraduate courses in Counselling and Theology as an adjunct faculty at Master's College and Seminary in Ontario, and as a guest professor at L'viv Theological Seminary in the Ukraine.

Bob was privileged to complete his clinical training under Dr. Richard Dobbins and Dr. Don Lichi at the EMERGE Counselling Center in Ohio. His graduate clinical work included extensive crisis and trauma counselling at the Detroit Medical Centre where he worked with gunshot and trauma victims, AIDs patients, and families dealing with tragic losses and terminal illness.

In addition to being a prominent relationship therapist and Christian counsellor, Bob conducts enrichment workshops and seminars on a variety of relational, emotional, and spiritual wellness topics, speaking regularly at community organizations and churches.  He has been featured regionally on CKLW Radio in Southwestern Ontario, CHVN Radio in Manitoba, and nationally on CBC Radio Canada and has presented at conferences in Canada and Africa.  Bob and his wife Monika have been married for 30 years and have three young adult children.
